Spalted Magnolia Pedestal Bowl
I started turning this bowl and hit a "rotten" spot near the base. I tried to turn the spot away and just before I hit the point of turning it into "Firewood" I found an area where the spot spot turned into a beautiful "Defective wood" highlight. I changed my plans and decided to create a Pedestal Bowl instead. The crisp pencil line spalting contrasted well with the blend of the creamy background and earth-toned browns and tans of the "defective wood" base.
